“The Bad Seed, Part 2: Hot Pursuit”

Doctor Fate looms large over this October 2009 issue of Justice Society of America, his golden helm and billowing cape radiating crackling magical energy as mystical symbols swirl in the background — the tagline "Fate Steps In!" says it all. Below him, a determined cluster of JSA members including Stargirl, a blue-costumed figure, Hawkgirl, and others brace for what's ahead in "The Bad Seed, Part 2: Hot Pursuit." Willingham, Sturges, and cover artist Jesús Merino deliver a striking image that frames this arc as one where the stakes are high enough to demand the intervention of one of DC's most powerful sorcerers.

While Stargirl keeps the villains away from her fallen teammates, Flash brings Dr. Fate to the scene. The arrival of the mystic and the revival of the fallen JSAers sends the villains scattering, leaving the JSAers to debate whether they should pursue or return to headquarters to find out why Mr. Terrific isn't responding. As half of the team tracks down the villains, the rest discover Mr. Terrific severely wounded back at the Brownstone. When the entire team regroups, the debate picks up again with Magog squaring off against Wildcat.
