“No More Teachers' Dirty Looks...?!”

The "Back to School" banner says it all — Bart Sears and Art Nichols deliver a wonderfully absurd cover scene for this September 1989 issue, with the Flash and Captain Atom squeezed into classroom desks like reluctant students while Captain Atom dutifully writes "I WILL NOT TALK IN CLASS" on the chalkboard behind them. The rest of the JLE roster fills the surrounding seats, and a red apple sits primly on the Flash's desk — a small, perfect comic touch. With Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis crafting the story, this lighthearted setup promises the sharp wit and superhero camaraderie that made their Justice League run so enjoyable.
