About this Issue

Justice League Europe #11 marks the first on-panel appearance of Joseph Mason (Joey Stagg), the son of Metamorpho (Rex Mason) and Sapphire Stagg — a character whose existence had been alluded to as far back as The Outsiders #24 (1987) but never shown. History

The series operated on a plot/script split common to the JLI titles: Keith Giffen supplied the plot and breakdowns while William Messner-Loebs handled the full script, with Bart Sears providing both pencils and inks. The cover is a collaborative piece by Kevin Maguire and Bart Sears — notable because Maguire was the signature cover artist for the JLI family of books, lending the issue visual continuity with the parent title even as interior art responsibilities had shifted to Sears. Editors Andrew Helfer and Kevin Dooley oversaw the issue, with Dick Giordano serving as executive editor — the same editorial infrastructure that had driven the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI revolution from 1987 onward.
