When Mr. Weatherbee steps in to help, a mix-up sends him crashing into every prank and mishap meant for Jughead. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with expressive art by Samm Schwartz, this 1999 Double Digest tale delivers classic Archie-style absurdity, all capped by a cover by Rex W. Lindsey.
When the school board threatens to replace the beloved cafeteria with vending machines, Archie, Betty, and Jughead team up with their classmates to protect Miss Beazly’s job — and the last real meal in Riverdale. In this lighthearted, 5-page gem from *Jughead's Double Digest #59*, the trio’s unlikely campaign unfolds with classic humor and a pinch of schoolyard chaos.
In "Piracy on the High Seas," Archie and Jughead, decked out as pirates, set off on a whimsical mission to deliver a bag of "booty"—actually gifts meant for a charity event—only to miss their ferry. With a bit of improvisation, they hitch a ride with an old sailor who’s all too thrilled to believe their swashbuckling act, turning their misadventure into a shared sea-faring tale.
In "Crowing Pains," Jughead’s attempt to join the Lofty Order of Crows takes a hilariously mistaken turn when he’s handed the wrong slip of paper—leading Mr. Weatherbee to unknowingly deliver the initiation address instead of the answer books to Miss Shapely. What follows is a perfectly absurd chain of mishaps, all centered around the wrong paper, the wrong delivery, and the wrong person getting hit with everything meant for Jughead.
In a lighthearted twist of high school drama, Archie finds himself roped into a well-meaning scheme when Ethel pleads with Miss Grundy and Mr. Weatherbee to help her avoid quitting the field hockey team—her only way out, she insists, is landing a date. With the entire school buzzing, Archie’s reluctant attempt to play matchmaker sets off a chain of awkward, hilarious moments that test his friendship, nerves, and sense of timing.
In "Solitude," Jughead finds himself drawn back to the quiet solitude of the beach, only to be pulled away by Archie’s sudden need for company. What starts as a simple moment of peace quickly unravels into a series of well-meaning but grating interruptions from the gang, leaving Jughead longing once more for the stillness he’d tried to reclaim.
In "The Agent," Jughead finds himself reluctantly playing diplomat when he's sent to a sorority house to book a gig for The Archies—much to his dismay, since he's not exactly a fan of girls. The whole ordeal becomes a surreal test of patience as he navigates the world of sorority politics, one sandwich at a time.
