Josie and the Pussycats #53
In "Alexandra's Liberation," the Pussycats prepare for a gig at an all-boys' university, and Alexandra takes the opportunity to step into the spotlight—literally, in a striking evening gown rather than her usual costume. When the boys don’t react as expected, she calls out their apparent chauvinism, turning the moment into a pointed, if awkward, stand for independence. Written by Dick Malmgren and brought to life with Dan DeCarlo’s signature flair—penciled and inked by DeCarlo and Lapick, with Barry Grossman’s colors and Bill Yoshida’s lettering—this 1971 issue captures a moment of playful feminism in the Pussycats’ world, all on a cover by DeCarlo and Lapick.

When Alexandra learns that the Pussycats are going to play at an all-boys' university, she decides to join the group without demanding top billing. To get attention, she shows up for the gig in an evening gown instead of a Pussycat costume. When the boys aren't interested in her, she starts to play the feminism card and accuse them of being chauvinists.
