Josie and the Pussycats #2

Apr 1994 · Archie · 2.00 USD
“Love & War”

In "Love & War," Josie and the Pussycats face a mystery when Valerie suddenly departs before a big show, citing a sick grandmother—only to leave her bandmates suspicious. With Melody and Alexandra stepping in to fill in, the girls piece together clues that suggest Valerie’s exit might be tied to a romantic entanglement at the very club they’re set to perform at, all drawn in the classic style of Dan DeCarlo’s cover and DeCarlo’s interior art.

Valerie leaves town before an important gig, claiming that she needs to visit a sick grandmother. Josie, Melody and Alexandra (who replaces Valerie in the band while she's away) don't buy the old "sick grandmother" cliché, and assume that Valerie is making some kind of tragic sacrifice to help the Pussycats. And they think they know what it is when they realize that the club they're playing at is owned by someone who unsuccessfully hit on Val.
