A pale, sharp-featured figure with a wild crown of icy spikes dominates this October 2009 Vertigo issue, wearing a snowflake-adorned costume and flashing a sly, knowing smirk — while curious villagers crowd the windows of a snow-dusted medieval town behind him. Brian Bolland's cover has a wonderfully eerie fairy-tale chill to it, all cool blues and crisp draftsmanship. Written by Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges with interior art by Russ Braun and José Marzán Jr., this kicks off a four-part arc that promises plenty of the irreverent Fables spin-off energy fans have come to expect.
