The issue was produced by the same tight creative team — writer Chris Claremont, penciller John Byrne, inker Dan Adkins, colorist Marie Severin, and editor Archie Goodwin — that helmed the entire Iron Fist solo series (1975–1977). The series ran 15 issues before cancellation, and this penultimate story arc was already seeding what would become the character who defined the 1980s Bronze Age villain archetype. Notably, the Grand Comics Database confirms that Boomerang's redesigned costume in this issue was conceived entirely by Byrne, a detail later verified in the Iron Fist #15 letters page — an early example of artist-driven character design being formally credited in-print.
