Invincible Iron Man #508

Part of Marvel's 2011 "Fear Itself" crossover, this issue plunges Tony Stark into a dire situation — the cover shows Iron Man half-submerged in what appears to be molten metal, suit ablaze with searing light, while a massive horned armored figure looms ominously above him on a platform. The contrast between the overwhelming titan above and the struggling armored hero below makes for a genuinely gripping image, rendered with fiery intensity by Salvador Larroca and colorist Frank D'Armata. Matt Fraction's run on this title was consistently ambitious, and issue #508 looks to be no exception.
