Tied into Marvel's 2011 Fear Itself event, this issue drops Iron Man into a harrowing aerial clash — the cover by Salvador Larroca shows a sleek Iron Man armor hurtling backward as a massive, winged, spike-covered armored figure drives a brutal hammer blow down on him, the collision crackling with energy against a turbulent amber and teal sky. The scale and raw power on display make it immediately clear that Tony Stark is facing something far beyond a typical threat. Fraction, Larroca, and D'Armata were firing on all cylinders during this run, and "Cracked Actor" looks every bit as intense as that title implies.
