“Hook”

In Hook #2 (1992), Peter Pan finds himself stranded in Neverland, where Captain Hook has captured his children and set his sights on breaking him. After a swift defeat and a perilous walk the plank, Peter is saved by mermaids and brought to Tinker Bell, where he must prove his identity to the skeptical Lost Boys—until a simple act of recognition brings him back to himself. The story unfolds with quiet tension as Hook works to turn Peter’s children against him, all while Peter fights to reclaim his place in the world he once called home. Written by Charles Vess and illustrated by John Ridgway, Denis Rodier, Ray Lago, and Dan Panosian, with inks by Panosian, Vess, Rodier, and Bryant, colors by Ed Lazellari, and letters by Michael Heisler, the issue’s haunting visuals are brought to life by Charles Vess’s striking cover art.
