Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe opening chapter of Seed of Destruction arrives with a cover that makes an immediate impression: Hellboy — red-skinned, filed-down horns, open coat revealing his BPRD belt, massive Right Hand of Doom, and curling tail — looms over a tangle of shadowy, robed figures, pistol raised and ready. Mike Mignola and Arthur Adams share cover duties, and the stark black-and-yellow palette gives the whole image a pulpy, noir-drenched atmosphere that perfectly suits Dark Horse's 1994 Legend imprint. With Mignola, Byrne, and Chiarello collaborating inside, this first issue of a four-part miniseries is a genuinely exciting place to step into the world of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

1944: In East Bromwich, England, specialists from the British Paranormal Society have gathered at church ruins where Lady Cynthia Eden-Jones has sensed a disturbance in the ether. When a demon child appears in an explosion of flame, Trevor "Broom" Bruttenholm dubs it Hellboy. 1994: Bruttenholm tells Hellboy about his recent expedition to the Arctic. Frogs then swarm into the office and Bruttenholm retreats from the room only to crash back into it dead. Hellboy battles and kills the froglike beast, then calls the head office of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense.
