Hawk and Dove #28
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe final chapter of this volume goes out with a dramatic statement: Dove turns her back in her flowing blue-and-white costume while a determined, red-caped Hawk strides forward — the bold cover copy "Partners — No More!" making the tension between them impossible to miss. Caught between them in a swirling vortex are smaller figures hinting at the larger chaos of DC's 1991 "War of the Gods" crossover event, of which this issue is part seven. Greg Guler and Willie Blyberg deliver a cover that feels both like a clash of personalities and a genuine farewell to one of DC's most spirited odd-couple partnerships.

Azure steals the power and the name of the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli, then hunts down Hawk. Dove joins the fight, but the pretender god is taken down by DC cops and a neutralizer ray. Hawk's vendetta against Senator O'Neill (who is possessed by the spirit of the late supervillain Top) comes to an end when Uncle Sam intervenes. Dove stops O'Neill, and Hawk is arrested. He's released in the custody of his parents and forbidden to act as Hawk while awaiting trial. Dove searches out Sal in her civilian identity and they agree to pursue their relationship.
