Green Lantern #40
The cover of this May 1993 issue blazes with electric energy as Green Lantern squares off against a scarlet-clad Flash figure, while a grimacing, bald adversary in a black-and-white costume clutches a green power ring between them — all set against a searing yellow burst of light. The bold header asks "Has Barry 'Flash' Allen Returned?" and a corner banner warns "Only to Be Killed by Darkstar!", making this one of the more provocative cover teasers of its era. Claude St. Aubin and Romeo Tanghal bring real kinetic charge to the confrontation, and with Gerard Jones writing and "A Flash of Evil" as the story title, this issue clearly isn't short on dramatic ambition.
