“I Must Never Sleep Again”

In "I Must Never Sleep Again," Golden-Age hero Dusty finds himself transported 500 years into the future, where he encounters Atoma the historian in the domed City of Peace, a society powered by atomic energy and sustained by a mere hour of daily labor. Bob Powell’s distinctive art brings to life a world of extended lifespans and quiet routines, where the contrast between leisure and military control hints at deeper tensions beneath the surface of peace.

Dusty accidentally projects himself 500 years into the future, where Atoma the historian acquaints him with the year 2446. The City of Peace is a domed habitat powered by atomic plants. People only work an hour a day, spending their leisure time reading on the solar deck. Modern medicine keeps people alive for hundreds of years. However, only the soldiers have the freedom of the city. Atoma regards their Governor was little better than Hitler from Dusty's time.
