Straight Arrow adopts these same deceptive methods—coating arrows with lead, using talc to create the illusion of miraculous healing—to prove to his people that he has performed miracles and won their trust, ultimately bringing peace to the tribe.
Straight Arrow must determine whether the mysterious Pedro Bombo—a boastful, cunning little man who claims to have outwitted both lawmen and warriors—is truly brave or simply a calculating fraud. When Crow raiders kidnap the chief's daughter, Straight Arrow recruits the confident Pedro to help mount a daring rescue, using the unlikely pair's contrasting skills to infiltrate the enemy village and stage a campaign of chaos and terror. By the story's end, Straight Arrow remains uncertain whether Pedro's survival and heroics mark him as a genuine warrior or merely an opportunist who stumbled into glory.
When a fugitive bank robber stumbles into Straight Arrow's secret cave and shoots the golden stallion Fury, the Comanche warrior and his wounded horse must track down the killer before he strikes again. The outlaw, desperate to silence the one witness who can identify him, sets a deadly trap at the cave—but Straight Arrow sees what others miss, turning the hunter into the hunted. A tense game of wits and marksmanship unfolds in the Sundown Mountains as Straight Arrow fights to protect Fury and bring a murderer to justice.
When mysterious dragon-prowed longboats appear on the Missouri River, Red Hawk discovers they carry Nordic seafarers seeking their lost colony—and realizes their iron-tipped weapons may be the key to stopping the Blackfeet warriors who've been ravaging his people with armor-plated buckskin jackets that deflect arrows. Joined by these "Winged Men" from across the sea, Red Hawk learns to forge metal-pointed arrows and returns to his tribe with the means to turn the tide of battle. It's a thrilling collision of Norse explorers and frontier warriors united against a common foe.
