“A Night to Remember”

In "A Night to Remember," the Gen X teens trade their usual chaos for a formal dance at the Massachusetts Academy, but when Synch detects Emplate's presence, the evening takes a sudden, dangerous turn. Written by Jay Faerber and illustrated by Terry Dodson with inks by Rachel Dodson, John Czop, and Scott Elmer, this pivotal issue sees the team confront Emplate and his allies, leading to the destruction of Proudstar Hall and a shocking separation of the M Twins from Penance. With the party in ruins and the aftermath unfolding, Penance—now seemingly an empty shell—awakens and vanishes into the woods, leaving the future uncertain. The cover by Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson captures the tension and drama of the night.

The Gen X kids join the rest of the students at the Massachusetts Academy for a formal dance. Synch senses that Emplate is lurking about during the festivities and they evacuate the building. The team defeats Emplate and his allies but Proudstar Hall is destroyed in the conflict. The explosion causes the M Twins to separate from the body of Penance.
