“Venus in Stone!”

In "Venus in Stone!", Xanatos storms the Gen-U-Tech island lab to claim his Medusa weapon, a deadly ray that petrifies its victims—only to find Demona fighting him for control. With tensions rising, the Gargoyles and Elisa infiltrate the island to strike back at Xanatos for what he did to Lavonne, unaware that Dr. Phobos has awakened a terrifying new creation: a half-human, half-gargoyle hybrid stitched together from Goliath and Elisa’s DNA. Written by Martin Pasko and Mort Todd, with art by Amanda Conner and Alberto Saichann, and a cover by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, this 1995 Marvel issue delivers a tense, high-stakes showdown where old grudges collide with dangerous experiments.

Xanatos arrives at the Gen-U-Tech island lab to collect his Medusa weapon, an advanced ray device that turns its target to stone. Demona fights him for it as she wants the weapon for herself. In retaliation for the wrongs done to their friend Lavonne, the Gargoyles and Elisa sneak onto the island and also face off with Xanatos. Dr. Phobos awakens his latest genetic experiment, a half-human half-gargoyle hybrid made from the DNA of Goliath and Elisa.
