Gambit #12
This Giant-Sized Special sends Remy LeBeau charging straight at the reader in his signature pink-and-blue suit, fists clenched and eyes blazing, as a diagonal streak of kinetic energy splits the cover between a horde of riot-gear police on one side and menacing robotic figures on the other — a beautifully chaotic composition by penciler Steve Skroce and inker Rodney Ramos. The tagline "Thief of Time!" sets the stage for the "Time Trap" storyline crafted by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Kaare Andrews inside. At $2.99, this 2000 oversized issue promises more story and more Gambit than a standard issue, making it a satisfying pick for fans of the Cajun mutant.

Gambit and Jacob arrive in the London of 1891. They track down legendary thief, Adam Worth, and ask him to lead them to the current Thieves Guild. Gambit catches up with the Thieves Guild leader, his grandfather Jacques LeBeau, in the lair of Nathanial Essex (known to most of us as Mr. Sinister). Jacques takes knowledge of Essex' work to Candra in hopes that she will return to her role as benefactress of the Guild. He also wants her to release his son, Jean Luc, whom she has been holding captive. Gambit and Jacob discreetly follow.
