Joe: A Real American Hero saga. It follows the Joes and Cobra through new conflicts and character-driven storylines, staying true to the original comic's spirit while advancing the modern narrative.
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #19 (2018) kicks off a layered mission with the return of the Joes from Trucial Abysmia, welcoming their newest member, Mongoose. As a new team heads to Darklonia to uncover a Revanche project, Dr. Venom works in secret to reconstruct the Brainwave Scanner—and craft a Blue Ninja to contain the echoes of Snake Eyes’ mind. Meanwhile, Zartan outmaneuvers a Nightcreepers ambush, and Obake Obaasan delivers a striking new uniform to Dawn in Tokyo. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by S. L. Gallant, with inks by Brian Shearer, colors by J. Brown, and lettering by Neil Uyetake, the cover by S. L. Gallant captures the tension of a world where identity and memory are weapons.
In "null," Storm Shadow and his allies make a daring escape from a community center, slipping away in the guise of Cobra agents. As they reach Darklonia, the cost of their journey becomes clear when Sneak-Peek succumbs to his wounds, and a chilling transformation begins as Doctor Venom takes control of Doctor Mindbender’s body—starting with a new mustache and a fresh introduction to Cobra Commander.
In "null," the G.I. Joe team is thrust into chaos when a sudden attack on the U.S. Embassy in Trucial Abysmia leaves four Joes stranded and their extraction helicopter downed. With insurgents closing in and no immediate backup, the team must hold the line while secrets from the past—like Dawn’s true identity and Zartan’s betrayal—begin to unravel.
In "null," the G.I. Joe team makes a desperate escape from a compound in Trucial Abysmia, commandeering militia vehicles to flee. With one vehicle damaged and the ambassador’s guards down, the ambassador makes a final stand to buy time for the Joes to reach their wounded allies—giving his life to ensure their chance at survival.
In "null," the G.I. Joe team returns from Trucial Abysmia to welcome their newest member, Mongoose, as another unit is dispatched to Darklonia to investigate a mysterious Revanche project. Meanwhile, Dr. Venom repurposes the Brainwave Scanner to implant Snake Eyes’ mind into a Blue Ninja, while Zartan outmaneuvers a Cobra assault on the Dreadnoks—only to be outdone by the arrival of Obake Obaasan, who brings Dawn to Tokyo and gifts her a modified version of Snake Eyes’ uniform.
In the shadows of Darklonia, the G.I. Joes infiltrate a Revanche Robotics plant only to find themselves trapped amid a hidden cache of Blue Ninjas. As Dr. Venom repurposes Snake Eyes’ mind into the new XR-23, a new threat emerges—while in Tokyo, Dawn and Granny Demon face an unexpected convergence of Red Ninjas.
