“Heroes and Medals and Things”

In "Heroes and Medals and Things," the G.I. Joes push deep into the heart of Wolkekuckuckland, where Snake-Eyes and Scarlett learn Storm Shadow’s daring plan to rescue Billy from Cobra Commander—just as the Commander dons a new, ominous battle armor crafted by Dr. Mindbender. Meanwhile, Duke deflects reporters’ questions about a mysterious space shuttle mission and a nearby asteroid explosion, claiming it was all just training. Back at base, Gen. Leiderkranz and Wolfgang continue their familiar game of bureaucratic evasion. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Phil Gosier, with inks by Scott Koblish and Jack Snyder, and colors by Chi, the issue’s cover by Phil Gosier and Randy Emberlin captures the tension with sharp, kinetic energy.

The Joes battle Cobra inside Wolkekuckuckland, Storm Shadow tells Snake-Eyes and Scarlett his plans to rescue Billy from Cobra Commander's clutches as the Commander receives a new set of battle armor from Dr. Mindbender. Reporters ask Duke about the 'shuttle mission' into space, and if the asteroid that exploded above was any threat to earth, to which Duke responds it was just a training mission. We also have another brief comic interlude between Gen. Leiderkranz and Wolfgang, as he always tries to weasel out of situations he puts his commander in.
