About this Collection

This volume collects issues #9–12 of IDW's 2014 G.I. Joe series, following the team as they confront a new threat tied to a mysterious siren song that lures soldiers into danger. The story deepens the ongoing conflict between the Joes and Cobra, with writer Karen Traviss and artist Steve Kurth exploring the psychological toll of warfare on the team members.

In "Chapter One," Hashtag steps into her role as a full-fledged G.I. Joe with a cryptic message that pulls her into a mission far deeper than she expected. Written by Paul Allor and illustrated by Steve Kurth, with inks by Allen Martinez, colors by Joana Lafuente, and letters by Shawn Lee, this issue sets the tone with a tense, personal mystery. The cover by Steve Kurth and Allen Martinez captures the moment just before the mission begins, hinting at secrets buried in the shadows.

Hashtag gets ready for her first day as an official Joe. She finds an anonymous scrambled message that intrigues her, but Duke tells her to ignore it. A mission goes badly, but the team makes it out, thanks to her. She and Cover Girl are disillusioned, though. She eventually unscrambles the message, and it's from Siren, asking for help freeing her son. Hashtag takes it to Cover Girl, who gets the mission cleared by Colton. They go in and find Siren, but find out things have changed since she sent the message months ago. COBRA is using the facility as a training camp for kids.
