In G.I. Joe #14 (2014), Hashtag steps into her role as a full-fledged Joe, only to be drawn into a mysterious encrypted message that Duke urges her to ignore. When a mission goes awry and she saves the team, her doubts grow—especially after uncovering the message’s origin: a plea from Siren for help freeing her son. With Cover Girl’s support and Colton’s approval, they launch a rescue, only to discover the facility has been repurposed by COBRA as a training ground for children. Written by Paul Allor and illustrated by Steve Kurth, with inks by Allen Martinez, colors by Joana Lafuente, and letters by Shawn Lee, the cover by Steve Kurth and Allen Martinez captures the tension of this pivotal moment.

Hashtag gets ready for her first day as an official Joe. She finds an anonymous scrambled message that intrigues her, but Duke tells her to ignore it. A mission goes badly, but the team makes it out, thanks to her. She and Cover Girl are disillusioned, though. She eventually unscrambles the message, and it's from Siren, asking for help freeing her son. Hashtag takes it to Cover Girl, who gets the mission cleared by Colton. They go in and find Siren, but find out things have changed since she sent the message months ago. COBRA is using the facility as a training camp for kids.
