Marines on leave in Turkey become entangled with a strong-willed local man named Mustapha after accidentally trapping him in a car during a botched escape from danger involving carbon monoxide poisoning. The soldiers rescue Mustapha and help him evade pursuit, leading to a series of comic misadventures where Mustapha causes chaos at a café and later boards a train with the Marines. After their time together, Spike and Bat prepare to depart Turkey, hoping that Mustapha has found his way home safely.

The Terrible Turk
12 pp · War

Spike and Bat find themselves hand-picked for a dangerous commando raid behind enemy lines—only to discover their old nemesis, the Terrible Turk, is joining them as an allied fighter. In a flashback, the two marines recall their reckless Istanbul adventure years ago, when they inadvertently tangled with the formidable Mustapha over a dancer named Kara, leaving him bitter and vengeful. Now, with Mustapha aboard for the mission and swearing he'll kill any Americans who wronged him, Spike and Bat must keep their identities hidden while preparing for battle.
