During maneuvers in South Carolina, PFC Spike and PFC Bat are saddled with escorting Maggie Black, a fearless war photographer who's already dragged them through tanks and swamps in pursuit of the perfect shot. When the boys discover Communist saboteurs positioned on Hill 27 with plans to sabotage the exercises, they hatch a risky plan to stop them—but Maggie's determination to document everything threatens to turn their mission into chaos.
Spike and Bat are hand-picked for a dangerous commando raid to destroy a vital enemy bridge, but their past literally jumps out at them when they discover their old nemesis Mustapha—the fearsome Turkish fighter they once wronged in Istanbul—has been assigned to their unit. Now the two Marines must navigate the mission while staying hidden from a man sworn to kill them if their faces ever cross his path again.
