This 1955 Dell "Authorized Edition" brings Walt Disney's Davy Crockett and the River Pirates to comic form, with a striking photo cover showing a rugged frontiersman perched on a weathered log, gazing alertly into the distance against a vivid purple sky — small river boats visible on the water below him. Inside, writer Paul S. Newman and artist Jesse Marsh (who also handled inking and lettering) translate the frontier adventure into sequential art, with colors by the Western Publishing Production Shop.
