“The Maharaja of Bahar”

In "The Maharaja of Bahar," Steve Canyon and Tuck venture into India not as soldiers, but as civilians tasked with charting air routes to deliver aid to a famine-stricken region. When they arrive, they’re met with confusion—local reports claim the Maharajah who requested help is dead, but his wife insists he’s still alive and begs Canyon to investigate. Written by Paul S. Newman and illustrated by Ray Bailey and Bill Overgard, with inks by Bailey, Overgard, and Milton Caniff, this 1954 Four Color adventure blends real-world urgency with a mystery wrapped in the politics of a distant kingdom. The cover by Ray Bailey captures the story’s exotic setting and tension.
