“Golf Helper”

This 1953 Dell one-shot puts Pluto front and center in a delightfully comic scene: Mickey Mouse, dressed as a makeshift optometrist complete with headband mirror, points a pointer at an eye chart made entirely of bones — while a bewildered Pluto peers through an oversized pair of glasses, several discarded pairs already scattered on the floor. Dick Moores' cover artwork is warm and full of personality, capturing that gentle Disney humor with clean, expressive linework. With interior art by Paul Murry and a story titled "Golf Helper," this is a charming slice of early-'50s funny-animal comics at their most endearing.
