“Designing an Airplane”

In "Designing an Airplane," the Little King takes a young friend named Kit under his wing, only to abdicate the throne and name Kit his successor after growing weary of royal duties. When thieves steal the royal gold and King Kit responds by declaring jelly beans the new currency, the Little King—now a wandering hobo—must step in to stop the thieves’ plan to blow up the castle and the new king. Written and illustrated by John Stanley, this whimsical tale features a delightfully absurd twist on monarchy and currency, with Otto Soglow’s playful cover capturing the story’s lighthearted spirit.
