In this 1947 Four Color #168 gem, Popeye and Olive stumble upon a hidden water hole on Olive’s desert property, leading them to Slither Creek where they sell the land to Mayor Gunrod—unaware it’s the town’s sole water source. When Gunrod begins charging $100 a cup, Popeye takes matters into his own hands, digging a well right in the middle of town’s main street. Written, drawn, inked, and lettered by Bud Sagendorf, with cover art by Sagendorf, this classic adventure blends slapstick humor with a timely twist, all in a 10-cent comic from 1947.
