“Nine Empty Uniforms!”

In "Nine Empty Uniforms!", a 1947 Flash Comics staple, a gang of criminals finds their robbery interrupted when a photographer captures their crime in a single, damning snapshot—only for them to cleverly manipulate the image, erasing their own faces and framing Johnny and the Black Canary. Written by Robert Kanigher and brought to life with dynamic art by Carmine Infantino and inks by Joe Giella, this issue blends suspense and mistaken identity in a classic Golden Age twist, with cover art by Carmine Infantino and Frank Giacoia.

A group of criminals committing a robbery notice that a photographer has taken a picture of them in the act. However, because Johnny and the Black Canary are also at the scene of the crime, the crooks successfully blank out their own images in the picture and thus blame our two heroes for the dastardly act.
