Fantastic Four #397

The cover of Fantastic Four #397 poses a chilling question right on its face: "How can the Fantastic Four survive… a Watcher's Wrath?" Dominating the image is an enraged, white-eyed Watcher looming impossibly large, with a tiny Human Torch ablaze in the upper right, a diminutive armored figure charging in the foreground, and the rocky fist of the Thing visible at the Watcher's side — the team dwarfed by cosmic fury. Cover art by Paul Ryan and Danny Bulanadi gives the scene a real sense of overwhelming scale, and with Tom DeFalco and Ryan also steering the interior story, this February 1995 issue promises the FF up against something far beyond ordinary danger.
