The Fantastic Four look outmatched on George Pérez and Joe Sinnott's striking 1977 cover, where a towering armored villain called the Eliminator stands triumphant amid the rubble, weapon in hand, as Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, and a flame-wreathed Human Torch struggle around him while the Invisible Girl lies unconscious at his feet. The cover's bold dialogue — "The battle is over, hapless fools! Now you are at the mercy of the Eliminator… and the Eliminator shows NO MERCY!!" — sets an urgent, almost irresistible tone. With Len Wein scripting and George Pérez on interior art, this July issue is a fine showcase of Marvel's energetic mid-seventies storytelling at its most dynamic.
