Vertigo's Fairest continues its "Wide Awake" arc with this sixth chapter, written by Bill Willingham with interior art by Phil Jimenez. Adam Hughes's cover painting draws the eye immediately — a red-haired woman draped in flowing violet silk reaches toward a cluster of dark roses while a wooden spinning wheel looms behind her, glowing flame-like markings visible on her bare back, the whole image suffused with a fairytale melancholy that feels both lush and quietly ominous. It's a gorgeous, atmospheric piece that captures the series' signature blend of fairy-tale romance and dark undercurrents.
