Fables #134
Mark Buckingham's watercolor cover for this December 2013 Vertigo issue is genuinely striking — a hooded figure in a flowing blue cloak raises a golden horn toward an enormous black wolf rearing above her, the whole scene rendered in soft, wintry whites and grays. The pairing of the two figures carries an air of ritual or summoning, perfectly in keeping with the series' rich tradition of reimagined fairy-tale imagery. With Bill Willingham writing alongside Buckingham, Leialoha, and Pepoy, Fables #134 promises another beautifully crafted chapter in this long-running saga.
