From the outside looking in, this haunting cover by Greg Ruth shows a weathered, grey-haired man crouched beyond a rain-specked windowpane, clutching a longsword to his chest with both hands — an image that radiates quiet desperation and weight. It's a beautifully understated piece of art for a series that has always balanced fairy-tale wonder with genuine human (and inhuman) feeling. Part four of the "Camelot" arc arrives in January 2014 with Willingham, Buckingham, and Braun at the helm, promising more of the rich storytelling that has made Fables one of Vertigo's most enduring series.
