Kaino and the hunting party watch as the baboons, increasing in number, approach the leopard and finally frighten him enough so that he drops the abducted baboon and runs off into the forest. Kaino realizes the baboons are like people - they have language, leaders, and they care for their wounded. The party returns to the trading post as the danger posed by the leopard is over.
