About this Collection

This second volume of the Brothers of the Spear Archives continues the classic jungle adventure series originally published in Dell's Tarzan comics. Collecting the complete run of the feature from the 1950s and 1960s, it follows the African warriors Dan-El and Natongo as they battle colonial threats and wild beasts. Dark Horse's archival edition preserves the original comic strips with restored artwork and historical context.

In "Episode 44: 'Leaving the land of the Obelo savages behind,...'", Dan-El and Natongo flee the palace through a hidden network of caverns, only to be cornered by the witch doctor Ingunyo’s guards—leading to a tense escape that tests their resolve. Written by Gaylord Du Bois and illustrated with bold, dynamic art by Russ Manning, this chapter of the Brothers of the Spear Archives continues their perilous journey with raw, cinematic pacing. The cover, also by Russ Manning, captures the moment with striking intensity.
