Hamasai leads Samai and three hunters to follow the trail of the leopard who had earlier attacked the trader village. Kaino gleefully tags along, wishing only that Mabu could be on the trip with them. Hearing sounds of alarm from baboons, they follow the racket to the edge of a ravine where, on the other side, baboons are throwing rocks and sticks at the leopard below, who has a grasp on a baby baboon. Hamasai assures an excited Kaino that the baboons will handle the situation.
