Doom Patrol #73
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis late-1993 Vertigo entry in Rachel Pollack's Doom Patrol run carries a cover by Bob Fingerman that is genuinely hard to look away from — a green-skinned woman labeled "Dream Cafe" sits at a blue-draped table flanked by mummy-like figures and a hulking robot, while two disembodied bearded heads rest on the tabletop and a muscular young boy in red shorts crouches in the foreground amid a field of scattered skulls, all framed by writhing tentacles against a blood-red background. The title "Dream Cafe" and the story's subtitle, "Return of the Windowmen," hint at the surreal, boundary-pushing territory Pollack and interior artist Linda Medley are exploring within. It's a wonderfully unsettling piece of early Vertigo weirdness that captures exactly the kind of fever-dream energy the series was known for in 1993.
