“Night of the Savage”

In "Night of the Savage," a resurrected Blockbuster—believed drowned in Gotham Harbor—washes ashore near a remote West Virginia mining town, where he forms an unexpected bond with a local miner. When Batman arrives to investigate rumors of Blockbuster’s return, the town’s union boss misjudges his intentions and begins a dangerous campaign to drive him out. Written by Gerry Conway and illustrated by Don Newton, with inks by Dan Adkins and colors by Adrienne Roy, this 1981 tale blends noir tension with rural isolation, all under Jim Aparo’s striking cover.
