History

Detective Comics #1043 sits midway through Eisner Award-winning writer Mariko Tamaki's run on the title, which launched with 'The Neighborhood' arc beginning in Detective Comics #1034 alongside artist Dan Mora. Tamaki and Mora had previously collaborated on Future State: Dark Detective, and DC reunited the team for the ongoing series in the Infinite Frontier era. The backup strip — written by Matthew Rosenberg with art by Darick Robertson and colors by Diego Rodriguez — served as the finale of a serialized prelude sequence running through Detective Comics #1041–1043, functioning as an extended advertisement and story setup for the Task Force Z standalone series that Rosenberg would write.
