Deadpool #48
Part three of "Cruel Summer" finds the Merc with a Mouth in a genuinely unsettling predicament — the cover, penciled by Jim Starlin and inked by Al Milgrom, places Deadpool flat on his back inside what appears to be an open coffin, staring up with that unmistakable masked gaze while a graveyard looms ominously in the background. It's a darkly playful image that captures Deadpool's particular brand of trouble perfectly. With Jimmy Palmiotti writing and Paul Chadwick on interior art, this 2001 installment promises the irreverent action fans of the series had come to expect.
