Few match-ups in 2013 Marvel comics look quite as gloriously unhinged as this one: Deadpool delivers a flying kick to a shambling, snake-covered zombie Richard Nixon while brandishing a sword and revolver, surrounded by a horde of rotting undead — and yes, a footnote cheerfully confirms that the ragged creature on the right is Nixon's dog, Checkers. Cover artists Geof Darrow packs every inch of this image with chaotic detail, from the swarming insects to the glowing figure meditating peacefully in the background, making it impossible to look away. Writers Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan, with interior art by Tony Moore and colors by Val Staples, bring their signature irreverent energy to this Marvel NOW! entry in the Merc with a Mouth's ongoing saga.
