Dead of Night #3
In "The Hidden Graveyard," a subterranean uprising brews beneath San Francisco as molemen, pushed to the edges of the city, plot their revenge after being forced into warrens. When their tunneling triggers an earthquake and citywide fires, they misinterpret the panic as a deliberate attempt to wipe them out—leading them to retreat into the depths, sealing their fate behind a collapsed entrance. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated by Paul Reinman, with dynamic inks by Reinman, this 1974 Marvel tale blends urban dread and underground rebellion. The cover, a striking collaboration by John and Marie Severin, captures the eerie tension of the hidden threat beneath the city streets.

Angry molemen want revenge for being forced to live in warrens on the outskirts of San Francisco so they plan an invasion. When the earthquake brought on by their tunneling produces multiple fires, they figure that the citizens must have thought to destroy their town rather then have them take it over, so they return to their caves and collapse the entrance behind them.
