DC: The New Frontier #1
This volume collects the first half of Darwyn Cooke's acclaimed DC: The New Frontier, a six-issue miniseries that reimagines the transition of DC's Golden Age heroes into the Silver Age. Set against the backdrop of the 1950s and early 1960s, it follows characters like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, and J'onn J'onzz as they navigate Cold War tensions, government distrust, and the dawn of a new heroic era. Cooke's retro art and noir-infused storytelling weave together iconic figures such as the Flash, Adam Strange, and the Challengers of the Unknown into a cohesive, character-driven epic.

In 1957, Red Ryan can't shake the crash landing he and three other men survived and later meets with the three to discuss their shared luck. Meanwhile, in New York City, Task Force X takes on a pterodactyl and loses one of their own, while in Tennessee, an African-American man who survives a lynching forges a new identity. Later, in the Pacific, Task Force X and the Challengers of the Unknown make a trip to Dinosaur Island. At the same time, Hal Jordan gets involved with a Task Force X project in California and learns about that crew. Back in Tennessee, John Henry makes his first appearance.
