DC: The New Frontier #2
"Chapter Four: Gods and Monsters" delivers a richly textured dive into the early days of the DC Universe, as J'onn J'onzz adapts to Earth through television and takes on the identity of detective John Jones in Gotham City during the 1950s. With Darwyn Cooke’s striking artwork and storytelling, the issue unfolds across pivotal moments—Barry Allen’s lightning strike, Sputnik’s launch, and a tense confrontation between Jones and Slam Bradley involving a mysterious book and the enigmatic Batman. The cover by Cooke captures the era’s noir tension, setting the stage for a story that blends Cold War atmosphere with the quiet arrival of alien presence.
