Daredevil #317

Daredevil hits the ground hard on this June 1993 cover — the Man Without Fear crashing down amid scattered leaves with a resounding "KRACK" and "THUMP," surrounded by a shadowy crowd of sword-wielding and heavily armed figures closing in from all sides. Scott McDaniel and Bud La Rosa fill the image with kinetic energy, the tilting cylindrical structure and that startled "Ay Caramba — Not Him Too!!" speech bubble selling the sense that things have gone very, very wrong for ol' Hornhead. "Grease Is the Word" promises a gritty street-level tangle, and this cover does a fine job of making you want to find out how Matt Murdock got into this mess.
