About this Collection

This collection brings together the first six issues of the 2017 Cyborg series, following Victor Stone as he returns to Detroit to reconnect with his past. The story delves into his dual nature as both man and machine, while introducing a new threat that challenges his identity and his place in the world. Written by John Semper Jr. with art by Will Conrad and Paul Pelletier, this arc sets the stage for Cyborg's solo adventures in the DC Rebirth era.

In "The Imitation of Life Prologue," Cyborg #1 (2017) launches a gripping new chapter for Victor Stone, exploring his fractured past as he grapples with distrust from the Justice League and haunting dreams of his humanity. Written by John Semper Jr. and illustrated by Will Conrad—with colors by Ivan Nunes and letters by Rob Leigh—this issue introduces Britton Claire, a mysterious woman claiming to be Victor’s forgotten lover, while his father’s suppressed memories begin to surface. The cover, also by Will Conrad, captures the tension of a man caught between identities.

Victor has nightmares of the Justice League not trusting him because he is not human. After running tests on him, Sarah and Victor go out to a jazz club, where they encounter Britton Claire, a woman who claims to be Victor's ex-girlfriend, but Victor has no memory of her. Victor discovers his father suppressed some of his memories after the accident that transformed him into Cyborg. He asks Dr. Morrow to restore his memories, but things go wrong. Meanwhile, Silas Stone has been captured by a doppelganger who has taken his place.
