“The Imitation of Life Part One: Awakening”

In *Cyborg* #1 (2016), written by John Semper Jr. and illustrated by Paul Pelletier with inks by Tony Kordos and Scott Hanna, Victor Stone grapples with his identity after a tense armored car bust reveals unsettling doubts about his humanity. As Sarah tries to reconnect him with his human side through music and unexpected encounters, a shadowy figure—mirroring his late father, Dr. Silas Stone—unleashes a new tech-based threat. The cover by Will Conrad captures the tension of a man caught between worlds.

Cyborg stops an armored car robbery, but worries that he is not human after hearing his father's secret recorded concerns about whether Victor is man or machine. Sarah takes Victor out to experience his human side, and they meet up with some young fans and a jazz musician who bring out emotions in Victor. Meanwhile, a mysterious adversary (who is a Dr. Silas Stone doppelganger) unleashes a new technological villain against Victor.
